How to block free email providers

Capturing accurate information from potential customers is essential for your marketing and sales success. A key part of this is ensuring the email addresses you collect are from legitimate business domains, not free personal accounts like Gmail or Yahoo. Our new email validation feature lets you enforce rules on accepted email domains, ensuring only business addresses are collected. This guide will show you how to enable and configure this feature in your forms.

Step 1: Configure Email Validation

  1. Add an Email Block: Add an email input block into your form if it isn’t already present.
  2. Access Block Settings: Click on the gear icon located on the left side of the email block. This will open a settings menu with several configuration options.
  3. Enable Work Email Validation:
    • In the settings menu, find the option labeled "Block free providers"
    • Check this box to enable work email validation. This will automatically block common personal email domains such as Gmail, Yahoo, and others.
    • Remember, the domain validation is case-insensitive, so it will catch all variants regardless of how the domain is capitalized.
    • You can access the list of domains we are blocking here.

Step 2: Save Your Changes

  1. Save the Form: Once you have enabled the "Block free providers" setting, make sure to save your changes.
  2. Test Your Form: It’s always a good idea to test your form to ensure that the validation is working as expected. If a user tries to submit a form with a blocked email domain, they will see a validation error message: "Please enter a business email address."

By enabling the email domain validation feature, you enhance the quality of your leads by ensuring that only business email addresses are submitted through your forms. This not only improves the relevance of the information collected but also helps maintain a professional standard in your communications.
