How to add multiple outcomes to your form

Creating personalized user experiences on your forms is crucial for engagement and effective data collection. Follow this step-by-step guide to add multiple outcomes to your form based on user selections at specific steps.

Step 1: Open the Form

  1. Access Your Form: Start by logging into your form builder platform and selecting the form you want to edit.
  2. Navigate to Outcomes: Click on the "Outcome" option available at the top of the page.

Step 2: Configure Default Outcome

  1. Default Outcome Settings: At the top of the Outcome page, locate the "Default outcome" section. This is the response users will see if no specific logic is applied.
    • You can set this to either display a "Thank you page" or redirect to a specific URL.
    • By default, it is usually set to a thank you page.

Step 3: Add Additional Thank You Pages

  1. Customize the example page: Below the default outcome, find a pre-made example "Thank you page 1". Customize the text and elements as needed.

  1. Create Additional Pages:
    • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Add Thank you page" button to create a new thank you page (e.g., "Thank you page 2").
    • Customize the text and elements for each new page.
    • Repeat as necessary to create as many thank you pages as needed.

Step 4: Customize Thank You Page Name and Slug (Optional)

  1. Locate the thank you page you want to customize and click on the "Page settings" button on the right side of the thank you page.

  1. From the dropdown menu, select "Edit name and slug" (an overlay will appear allowing you to modify the outcome details).
  2. In the "Outcome details" dropdown, choose the thank you page you want to customize.

  1. Customize the Name and Slug:
    • In the first field, enter the new name for the thank you page.
    • In the second field, enter the custom slug you want to appear in the URL.
  2. Save Changes:
    • After making your changes, click on the "Save" button.
    • The overlay will close, and your thank you page will be updated with the new name and slug.
    • Repeat as necessary to update the name and slug for as many thank you pages as needed.

Step 5: Set a Default Thank You Page

  1. Choose Default Page: After creating additional thank you pages, scroll to the top of the Outcome page. Here, you can select which thank you page will be the default if no specific conditions are met.

Step 6: Apply Conditional Logic to Form Questions

  1. Access Form Questions: Click on the "Form" option at the top of the page, next to "Outcome". This will take you to the form questions.

  1. Select a Question: Navigate to the question where you want to apply conditional logic.
  2. In the upper right corner, locate and click on "Page settings", then select "Logic".

Step 7: Define the Logic to Set Outcomes Based on Specific Answers

  1. Use the “Finish and Show” logic:
    • In the logic overlay, click on the first dropdown field and select "Finish and show". This will enable you to alter the form's outcome based on a specific answer - users selecting a particular answer, will see a specific outcome of your choice; users providing different answers will see the default outcome.

  1. Select Outcome:
    • In the "Select outcome" field, choose one of the outcomes (thank you pages) you created earlier that you want to display based on the user's answer.

  1. Choose Question:
    • In the next dropdown, select the question you want to apply this logic to. Two additional fields will appear for setting conditions and values. This will allow you to show a different outcome only to users who gave a specific answer to that specific question.

Step 8: Set Conditions and Values

  1. Condition Field: Define the condition under which the selected outcome should be shown.

  1. Value Selection: Choose the specific value from the question that will trigger the selected outcome. For instance, if the question is a single-select type, you can choose a value that, when selected, redirects the user to the chosen thank you page. If other values are selected, users will see the default outcome.

Step 9: Add Multiple Conditions (Optional)

  1. Add Another Condition: In the same logic overlay, you can add additional conditions with different logic.
    • You can set different outcomes for different answers to the same question or set outcomes for different questions entirely.
    • Click "Add action" to create another logic rule.
    • This allows you to customize the form experience based on multiple user responses and different questions.

Step 10: Save Your Logic Settings

  1. Save Logic: After configuring the logic, click the "Save" button at the bottom of the logic overlay.
  2. Save Changes: Once the overlay closes, ensure to click "Save changes" at the bottom right corner of the page to apply all your changes.

Step 11: Test Your Form

  1. Preview and Test: Preview your form to test the logic you have set. Make sure the outcomes work as expected based on different user selections.
  2. Adjust if Necessary: If something isn't working as intended, return to the form builder and adjust the logic settings until it meets your requirements.

By following these steps, you can create dynamic and personalized user experiences on your forms, enhancing user interaction and data collection.
